In a new photograph from behind the scenes of Daredevil: Born Again, Jon Bernthal appears wounded and bruised in his role as Frank Castle. Jon Bernthal, who previously played Daredevil and The Punisher, will reprise his role in the upcoming Disney+ series Daredevil: Born Again. During production, @littlepandapit uploaded a fresh shot on Instagram, displaying a close-up of Bernthal. Bernthal appears to have recently finished a fight scene for the series, judging by the evident scratches and blood on his face and knuckles. The description accompanying the post, which can be seen below, read: “Thank you to Jon Bernthal for being awesome and taking a picture with me!”
In an interview, Bernthal said there’s a reason why The Punisher has connected as profoundly and passionately in the hearts and minds of comic book readers, first responders, military personnel, and individuals all over the world. “I think everyone has a little bit of Frank Castle. He dwells very strongly within me, and I care profoundly about that persona.” On bringing back the character, Daredevil: Born Bernthal continued, “I also know that it’s extremely crucial that if we do it, we do it well, and we have true holy respect to the source material and to what is at the heart of Frank. I will do my greatest best to ensure that, if and when we do it, we do it correctly.” According to rumors, Jon Bernthal rejected the initial screenplays for Daredevil: Born Again before they were given a creative revision. Following extensive rewrites, the series is intended to have stronger ties to the original Marvel programs that debuted on Netflix, such as Daredevil and The Punisher. Deborah Ann Woll and Elden Henson, who played Karen Page and Foggy Nelson on Daredevil, have been set to reprise their roles. Wilson Bethel will also return as Bullseye, with Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio reprising their roles as Daredevil and Kingpin.
