Marvel may bring back the original Avengers cast

Maybe there is still more Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark and Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff for fans to enjoy. In 2019’s Avengers: Endgame, RDJ’s Iron Man and Johansson’s Black Widow tragically died. There has been no hint that the two will reunite in the MCU’s future, even if the latter would make a comeback in her own prequel movie. But according to sources, Marvel Studios is actively discussing the prospect of creating a new Avengers movie with the original cast, which would involve bringing back Downey and Johansson to reprise their respective MCU roles. This is in light of the declining box office success of Marvel films. The source claims that while the concept has recently been explored, Marvel Studios has not yet made a firm commitment to the proposal. Reuniting with the original cast would undoubtedly be expensive, given Downey’s advance payment for Iron Man 3 was reported to have been close to $25 million. There are also discussions about reducing the enormous expenditures for these films because the majority of the current Marvel Studios productions are doing worse at the box office than their predecessors. However, in terms of the creative approach, that shouldn’t be an issue because the universe would make it extremely simple to bring deceased characters back to life.

Money talks, and a sufficiently enough salary may enable the aforementioned returns, although Johansson and Downey have been rather vocal about their desire to leave the MCU. “Chapter is over,” Johansson stated unequivocally on Gwyneth Paltrow’s podcast earlier this year. I completed all of my tasks.” This year, when Extra asked Downey if he would be interested in doing another Iron Man movie, he advised them to contact Tom Cruise instead, asking, “Does he Tom want to do that?” Then Downey turned to face Cruise and said, “Don’t take it.” Not one, but two Avengers sequels are in production, with or without Downey and Johansson. The first, directed by Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings filmmaker Destin Daniel Cretton, is titled Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and is slated for release on May 1, 2026. Given Jonathan Majors’ legal issues, it’s probable that the title will change. It has been claimed that Marvel has been talking about the prospect of casting a different supervillain as the MCU’s main antagonist. On May 7, 2027, Avengers: Secret Wars is scheduled for release as well.
