Eyes of Wakanda will take place on the traditional timeline of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, not in a parallel world like What If…? and X-Men ’97, as executive producer Brad Winderbaum of Marvel Studios just stated. Winderbaum, who is also Marvel Studios’ Head of Streaming, Television, and Animation, provided an update on the company’s planned animation projects, which include the impending Black Panther series, in an interview. “On the animation side, we’re pursuing a tonne of incredible opportunities. “Out of all the shows, Eyes of Wakanda most seamlessly integrates into the revered MCU timeline continuity,” the speaker stated. Ryan Coogler, the filmmaker of Black Panther, is a producer on it, while Todd Harris, a veteran storyboard artist, is the director. It’s a fascinating look into the history and mythology of Wakandan culture. It seems fantastic. And it gives me the impression that I’m seeing an animated glimpse of the MCU.”
Marvel Studios made the formal announcement of Eyes of Wakanda in December 2023. Currently, not much is known about the Black Panther animated series, but the firm has released the following logline: “Brave warriors have been tasked with travelling the world retrieving dangerous vibranium artefacts throughout Wakandan history.” This is the tale of them.” Before, in January 2024, Winderbaum hinted about Eyes of Wakanda, stating, “I don’t want to say too much about it, only that people do not see it coming.” He also discussed the process of bringing the project to life, saying that veteran storyboard artist Todd Harris first presented the concept to Ryan Coogler, then brought it to Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige, who said, “Let’s do it.” The official MCU history is known as the “sacred timeline,” and Eyes of Wakanda will be the first and only animated series to be set on this timeline.
