The iconic Hong Kong actor Tony Leung Chiu-Wai, who portrayed the beloved villain Xu Wenwu in Shang-Chi, has been replaced to play the role in the animated Disney+ series What If..? Marvel’s Disney+ series What If…? explores alternate world stories of previous Marvel storylines while revisiting and twisting iconic MCU moments.The eighth episode of its second season, “What If Hela Found the Ten Rings?,” features the return of Cate Blanchett’s villain Hela from Thor: Ragnarok.As the tale progresses, Hela’s backstory parallels Thor’s in Thor (2011).Hela is sent to Earth by Odin, who does not send her to Hel, where she meets Xu Wenwu from Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. After this unexpected meeting, Hela and Wenwu form a lethal alliance that culminates in a team battle against Odin. Feodor Chin, a seasoned voice actor for animated films and video games, provides the voice of Tony Leung’s character Wenwu, while Cate Blanchett returns to her role as Hela.

The new voice actor for Wenwu made the following announcement on X: WHAT IF… I joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe with CATE BLANCHETT, the two-time Oscar winner? Discover in What If…? Season 2 Episode 7: What If… Hela Found the Ten Rings? Disney+ NOW is available.

What If…? Season 2 episode titles contain interesting parallel universes like “What if Nebula Joined the Nova Corps?,” “What if Iron Man crashed into the Grandmaster?,” “What if Kahhori Reshaped the World?,” and “What If Peter Quill Attacked Earth’s Mightiest Heroes?” The second season of What If…? delves into the multiverse and reimagines iconic Marvel Cinematic moments. Chris Hemsworth, Jeremy Renner, and Mark Ruffalo reprise their iconic roles as Thor, Hulk, and Hawkeye, respectively, while new voice actors play Natasha Romanoff, Black Widow, Steve Rogers, Captain America, and Tony Stark, Iron Man. The third episode of the cartoon series’ second season is a holiday special called “What If… Happy Hogan Saved Christmas?” The Christmas-themed episode pays tribute to Die Hard and follows Happy Hogan (Jon Favreau) as he tries to save Avengers Tower from Justin Hammer’s (Sam Rockwell) menace. The official Marvel Studios synopsis for Season 2 suggests that The Watcher will continue to lead viewers around the expansive world, introducing them to beloved characters like Nebula, Hela, and Starlord. But what if…? Executive producer Bryan Andrews directs the episodes of Season 2, while Executive Producer AC Bradley serves as head writer.
