Spider-Man just did something only a tiny club of movies has ever managed. As of this week the Spider-Man Brand New Day box office has climbed into the all time worldwide top five, sailing past a $2 billion juggernaut that sat untouched for a decade and setting its sights on an even bigger scalp.
Peter Parker’s latest is no longer just “a big hit.” It is now sharing a shelf with Avatar, Endgame and Titanic. Let that sink in for a second.
How high has the Spider-Man Brand New Day box office climbed?
Brand New Day has now pushed past roughly $2.22 billion worldwide, which is enough to overtake Star Wars: The Force Awakens (about $2.07 billion) and claim the number five spot on the all time global chart. Only four films in history now sit ahead of it.
Here is the company Spidey is keeping, and it is absurd company to be keeping less than a month into a theatrical run.
| Rank | Film | Worldwide (approx) |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Avatar | $2.9B |
| 2 | Avengers: Endgame | $2.79B |
| 3 | Avatar: The Way of Water | $2.32B |
| 4 | Titanic | $2.26B |
| 5 | Spider-Man: Brand New Day | $2.22B |
The gap to Titanic is tiny, roughly $45 million, which at this film’s daily pace is a matter of days, not weeks. Trade trackers already have it “set to overtake” James Cameron’s ship for the number four slot ever. A superhero movie about a friendly neighborhood kid, elbowing into the four biggest films of all time. What a world.
Did it really beat Avengers: Endgame?
Domestically, yes, and that is the headline that made jaws drop. Brand New Day has already dethroned Endgame’s North American record after four straight weekends at number one, a run that felt impossible back when Endgame set the bar in 2019. We broke that one down when it happened in our look at how the Spider-Man Brand New Day box office passed Endgame’s domestic record.
Worldwide it is a different race. Endgame’s $2.79 billion is still comfortably ahead, so Brand New Day is not the biggest Avengers-adjacent movie on the planet yet. But the fact that we are even measuring the distance tells you how ridiculous this run has become.
What are the Spider-Man Brand New Day box office numbers in India?
India has been quietly doing a lot of heavy lifting here. The film added another ₹1.75 crore net on day 27, pushing its India net past ₹487 crore and its India gross close to ₹583 crore, one of the strongest Hollywood runs the country has ever seen. We covered the moment it crossed the 500 crore mark in India, and the weekday holds since then have been remarkably sticky.
For the full running scoreboard, the milestones as they fall and the India daily breakdown, we keep everything updated in our Spider-Man: Brand New Day hub.
Why does this matter for the road to Doomsday?
Timing, that is why. Brand New Day is the last big MCU release before Avengers: Doomsday storms in on December 18, and a top-five-of-all-time Spider-Man movie is exactly the kind of momentum Marvel wanted heading into the biggest crossover since Endgame. A hot Spidey means a hot audience, and a hot audience means Doomsday tracking that could get very scary, very fast.
There is also the small matter of whether this Peter Parker shows up in Doomsday at all. A version of Spider-Man riding this kind of goodwill into a multiverse war is a marketing dream, and the theories are already flying.
What happens next
The next domino is Titanic. If Brand New Day holds even a modest weekday pace, it should slip into the all time top four within days, and from there the only realistic question is whether it can chase down Avatar: The Way of Water for number three before it leaves theaters. A digital release is also looming, which usually signals the theatrical run is entering its final act, so these last few milestones matter.
So here is our question for you: is Spider-Man: Brand New Day genuinely a better movie than the box office suggests, or is this the perfect storm of timing, hype and a starving fanbase? Tell us in the comments and settle it.
