Now that the Phase Five Marvel Cinematic Universe movie has officially made its Disney+ streaming premiere, The Marvels adds another undesirable record to their resume. When the Captain Marvel sequel debuted on Disney+ on February 7, 89 days after its premiere on November 10 of last year, it reportedly set a record. Because of this, in 2023 The Marvels equals the record set by its two MCU big-screen predecessors, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. The highly anticipated superhero sequel, The Marvels, failed to recoup its $275 million budget at the global box office, making it the lowest-grossing MCU film ever. This is the reason for the prolonged wait for the film to arrive on Disney’s streaming service. The movie’s home media debut window and Disney+ date were revealed in January. On February 13, the movie will be released on Blu-ray and 4K. On January 16, The Marvels was also made available digitally.

The Marvels, starring Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau, Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel, and Brie Larson as Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel, examines the power switching between Carol, Kamala, and Monica while they look into a wormhole connected to the Kree. Zawe Ashton, Park Seo-Joon, and Samuel L. Jackson. Moreover, Lashana Lynch had a brief appearance in the movie as a different version of Maria Rambeau; her participation hinted to the X-Men’s growing prominence in the MCU. Marvel CEO Kevin Feige had to order reshoots due to a number of production setbacks that plagued the film before The Marvels made its theatrical debut. In addition, The Marvels received mixed reviews from test audiences, and director Nia Dacosta departed the film during post-production to focus on Hedda, her next project starring Tessa Thompson, the star of the Thor trilogy, who made a cameo as Valkyrie in the Captain Marvel sequel. In spite of The Marvels’ movie office failure, Larson has hinted at potential MCU roles for Captain Marvel, while Vellani has offered her ideas for more Marvel films. In the meanwhile, The Marvels’ internet and home DVD releases will come with a number of featurettes, including behind-the-scenes glimpses at the making of the film.
