Aubrey Plaza, a veteran of Parks and Recreation, said that she had previously tried out for one of the parts in 2018’s Deadpool 2. Plaza was almost cast in another well-known Marvel project prior to agreeing to participate in the Agatha: Darkhold Diaries series on Disney+. Plaza said in an interview that of all the jobs she wanted but didn’t get, her unsuccessful Deadpool 2 audition was perhaps the one she was most unhappy in. She added that because her attention was diverted by another movie she was filming at the time, she wasn’t in the best shape when she completed her audition for the Ryan Reynolds-starring superhero sequel. Coincidentally, the aforementioned project was the TV adaption of an X-Men character, Legion from FX.
“I don’t know, but I guess Deadpool 2 stands out to me for some reason. I suppose I was filming Legion at the time, and I had just gotten off a plane,” Plaza recounted. And because you need to be in an auditioning zone, but I was in a “work zone,” I wasn’t in a good frame of mind. That was painful. Ryan Reynolds and I—what could possibly go wrong? We would work well together. Plaza originally attracted attention for her breakthrough performance as April Ludgate in the hit Parks and Recreation sitcom on NBC, where she made a name for herself with her deadpan humour. Plaza has had the chance to show off her acting skills in the critically praised films Emily the Criminal from 2022 and Ingrid Goes West from 2017. She is presently competing for an Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress for her depiction of Harper Spiller in HBO’s The White Lotus Season 2.

Ingrid Goes West in 2017 and Emily the Criminal in 2022 gave Plaza the chance to demonstrate her range as an actress, both of which received critical praise. She is presently a nominee for an Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress for her depiction of Harper Spiller in HBO’s The White Lotus Season 2. According to recent sources, Plaza will portray Rio Vidal, a green witch who is a member of Agatha Harkness’ coven. Rio Vidal is an original character. Rio Vidal is allegedly going to be the romantic interest of the titular witch, who first debuted in WandaVision in 2021. If this rumour turns out to be true, it will be a historic day for Marvel Studios as it will be the first time an LGBTQ+ character will serve as the focal point of an MCU movie.
