“I’m never doing that”: Kirsten Dunst shares a Spider-Man stunt she wasn’t able to perform

In order to play Mary Jane Watson in Spider-Man, Kirsten Dunst was prepared to get a little physical and perform several of her own stunts. Still, after a ‘test’ run that left her feeling scared, she was pleased to hand over one specific stunt to a stuntperson. During a video interview, Dunst discussed her stunt work on Spider-Man with British GQ. She talked about the famous moment in which Spider-Man just manages to save Mary Jane from striking the earth as she falls over a balcony. Dunst knew for sure she wouldn’t be up for it after completing a practice run without the camera rolling, and she consequently declined to partake in that specific scene when it came to filming.

“I did do a lot of my stunts in Spider-Man, and I remember one stunt that they ‘tested’ on me once,” she explained. “They essentially raised me to the top of a massive Sony sound stage, and they let me to fall freely until the very last second. “You ought to have done that on camera,” I said. I’m not going to do that again. I’m not that person, but it felt like a bungee leap. Personally, I don’t require that rush of adrenaline, therefore I say no. “I swear to God, I will never do that again.” From 2002 to 2007, Kirsten Dunst portrayed Mary Jane Watson in three Spider-Man movies directed by Sam Raimi. Her role in Raimi’s fourth Spider-Man movie was supposed to return, but the project was shelved before it could begin production. Given the scope of the Spider-Man series, Dunst hinted in the same British GQ interview that she may return for a follow-up film at some point. She has previously stated that if she had been invited, she would have returned for Spider-Man: No Way Home. “I recall, we were going to do another Spider-Man 4,” Dunst remarked in reference to the fourth film that was scrapped and redirected, starring Raimi. To be honest, I can’t recall if we were or not. We’ll have to wait and see. That cosmos is very open, after all. Anything may be it. So, I suppose it’s feasible for me to appear in another Spider-Man film or whatever.”
