Actor Jon Bernthal of The Punisher discussed what he thinks makes Frank Castle relatable to different audiences. In an interview, Bernthal discussed the kinds of individuals and occupations who could be drawn to Frank Castle’s harsh brand of justice for various reasons. There is a little bit of Frank in everyone, according to Bernthal, who included comic book aficionados, first responders, veterans of the armed forces, and people from all around the world among those on the list. Bernthal continued by describing the extent to which he is The Punisher and underlined the necessity of The Punisher’s future depictions and adaptations adhering closely to the original work in order to preserve The Punisher’s holy purity. According to Bernthal, “I believe there’s a reason why that character has struck a chord as profoundly and powerfully in the hearts and minds of comic book readers, first responders, members of the armed forces, and people everywhere.” I believe that everyone possesses a small amount of Frank Castle. I have a strong internal connection to that character, and I cherish him greatly. Furthermore, I am aware of how crucial it is that, should we choose to proceed, we do it with genuine holy integrity, honouring the original source and Frank’s essence. If and when we decide to undertake anything, I will stop at nothing to ensure that it is done correctly.

It was revealed that Daredevil: Born Again, an upcoming Disney+ series, will include The Punisher’s debut appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Season 2 of Netflix’s Daredevil included Bernthal’s debut as The Punisher, which was part of the Defenders-verse with other extreme street vigilantes including Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and Iron Fist. The Defenders’ formal inclusion in the MCU canon was just accepted by Marvel. In 1974’s The Amazing Spider-Man, The Punisher made his screen debut as an assassin out to get Spider-Man. He fights crime on his own for all time, using harsh tactics including torture, threats, extortion, murder, and kidnapping. Driven by the heinous murder of his spouse and kids, who saw a mob-ordered slaying in Central Park, The Punisher became a fearsome vigilante in New York City. Three full-length feature film versions of the character were produced: 1989’s Frank Castle starring Dolph Lundgren, 2004’s Thomas Jane, and 2008’s Punisher: War Zone starring the late Ray Stevenson.
