Hugh Jackman reprises his role as Wolverine in Deadpool & Wolverine after a seven-year absence, bringing an iconic character to life in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Though Jackman’s Logan in the team-up picture will retain what made him beloved in the X-Men franchise, Marvel president Kevin Feige hinted that Wolverine will display more “darkness” than normal in the film. In an interview, Feige was asked if Jackman had anything new to give in Deadpool & Wolverine compared to his past representations of the character. Feige confirmed Jackman’s recent comment that Wolverine will reveal a darker side in Deadpool & Wolverine, transporting viewers to a “special place” when they see the picture.” On a deeper level, I believe he has stated that he taps into a darker side of the character, which is not often visible in the entertaining video shown in trailers. But when you see the film, there’s a darkness that always comes with the Wolverine character from the comics, which is touched on in some of the other films but is explored into in this one in a manner that truly takes you to, I believe, a particular place and exposes it once more. “What an incredible actor,” Feige added.
Since his debut as the claw-wielding mutant in 2000’s X-Men, Hugh Jackman has been associated with Wolverine. The Australian actor added believability to the part, since Wolverine is known for his no-nonsense style and sharp humor. After retiring from portraying Wolverine following his role in the Academy Award-nominated picture Logan, Jackman changed his mind, despite Feige’s efforts to persuade him otherwise, and returned for the latest Deadpool sequel. Jackman’s addition changed the course of Deadpool & Wolverine, reviving it after earlier proposals from co-star Ryan Reynolds failed. Along with teasing Wolverine’s darker side in Deadpool & Wolverine, Reynolds reveals Jackman is more muscular than expected in the Phase Five movie. Jackman said working on Deadpool & Wolverine as one of the most pleasurable periods of his illustrious Hollywood career, saying he regained his spark after admitting exhaustion playing the part. He also claimed that he returned to the job despite the fact that fans had been urging him to reconsider for years.
Deadpool & Wolverine has been described as a possible game-changer for the MCU, and its record opening weekend box office estimates reflect fans’ high expectations. The film follows the “Merc With a Mouth” and Logan on a Multiverse-altering assignment assigned to them by the Time Variance Authority (TVA). The forthcoming tentpole also features numerous X-Men characters as the MCU enters its “mutant era,” according to Feige. Deadpool & Wolverine stars Jackman and Reynolds, with Emma Corrin (Cassandra Nova), Tyler Mane (Sabretooth), Matthew Macfadyen (Mr. Paradox), Jennifer Garner (Elektra), and Stefan Kapičić (Colossus). The film is the MCU’s first R-rated big-screen release and has already received positive reviews from reviewers.
