In multiple X-Men movies from 21st Century Fox, Famke Janssen portrayed Jean Grey; yet, she never anticipated playing the character so frequently. Now that Disney has discontinued the X-Men series, the Phoenix might rise once more. Janssen talked about her past involvement with the X-Men franchise and her potential comeback in an interview. “I’m not sure. She remarked, “I mean, I didn’t expect to come back after dying as Jean Grey.” “I made a reappearance in Days of Future Past and The Wolverine, as well as in flashback sequences in X-Men: The Last Stand (2006) as the Phoenix. All those were unexpected surprises that I never saw coming. I’m not sure about Deadpool and Wolverine. Though I doubt it, you never know. In the 2000 film X-Men, Janssen played Jean Grey for the first time. Hugh Jackman as Wolverine made his feature debut alongside Sir Patrick Stewart as Professor Charles Xavier, Sir Ian McKellen as Magneto, James Marsden as Scott Summers/Cyclops, Halle Berry as Storm, Anna Paquin as Rogue, Rebecca Romijn as Mystique, and Shawn Ashmore as Iceman. It is seen as one of the pioneers of the widespread superhero mania of today, having successfully reintroduced one of Marvel Comics’ most recognizable superhero teams to the general public.
Janssen made her second appearance as Jean Grey in the X2 sequel released in 2003. In the movie, Brian Cox’s murderous character General Stryker attempted to create his own Cerebro, a device similar to Professor Xavier’s, in order to exterminate all mutants. At the end of the movie, Jean Grey sacrifices her own life to save mutantkind by using her talents. She utilizes telekinesis to stop the surging water in Alkali Lake, saving the X-Men from the impending flood. She is engulfed in the shimmering energy of the Phoenix Force, though, and her power consumes her. Fans were enthralled and eagerly awaiting the next installment. Janssen made a comeback as the Phoenix in X-Men: Last Stand in 2006. In the comics, Jean is transformed into the Dark Phoenix by the callous and destructive cosmic Phoenix Force. But in the movies, the Phoenix is Jean’s other personality, born of her hidden psychic powers, which Xavier concealed after discovering it. In X2, she overreached herself and let go of the Phoenix. Hugh Jackman’s character Wolverine had to kill Jean Grey in order to rescue the world since she started to pose a threat to both humanity and mutants. The Dutch actress had two further cameos: in X-Men: Days of Future Past’s time-traveling scene and in The Wolverine’s recollection.
Perhaps Janssen will make a comeback in a next X-Men film. Marsden has expressed a desire to play Cyclops again. He returned to the character in Days of Future Past. Deadpool & Wolverine, which stars Karan Soni as Dopinder in the flicks, is expected to be full of surprises. In an interview, Soni said, “Let’s just say, a lot of people traveled to London.” Janssen is now starring in Moritz Mohr’s animalistic and gory action movie Boy Kills World. Bill Skarsgard plays Boy, a deaf guy who wants retribution after his family is killed. The film includes action scenes that are thrilling and energetic, with inspiration from several real-life martial arts forms. Janssen portrays Hilda van der Koy, the antagonist of the movie and the head of a dishonest organization who killed Boy’s family.
