Writer Christopher Miller provides a production update for Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse. On December 10, 2023, the Spider-Verse writers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller attended the Spider-Verse FYC event. Accompanying them were members of the cast and crew, such as Gwen Stacy’s Hailee Steinfeld, Rio Morales’ Luna Lauren Vélez, and director Kemp Powers of Across the Spider-Verse. Film reviewer Jonathan Sim posted on X, revealing that Miller is making good work on the trilogy’s last chapter and hinting at its conclusion with the statement, “We’re in production…We’re really looking forward to where the tale is headed, and in my opinion, it’s a very fulfilling way to wrap up the trilogy that’s somehow just as emotional as the others.and it will be thrilling. We’re up to our knees in it. One sardonic comment in Lord’s own update was, “It will be released in theatres.”

It’s hardly surprising that Miller gave Velez and Steinfeld a quick glance when he alluded to the satisfactory ending, given their respective roles in the film series. Fans did, however, point out an apparent error in Miller’s comment that the ending was even more emotional than Across the Spider-Verse, which he later corrected. The most recent significant announcement regarding Beyond the Spider-Verse was that the cast and crew have pledged to remain silent, with the threequel drawing influence from beloved Disney films like as The Parent Trap and The Prince and the Pauper. Although the story elements have been kept under wraps, with Shameik Moore purportedly being the only one who knows how it ends, the production of Beyond the Spider-Verse was rocked by a never-ending stream of rumours before being postponed indefinitely.

The film was taken off of the schedule in July, but its initial release date was slated for 2024. The formal explanation for the production delay came from the labour conflicts that arose between SAG-AFTRA and the studios. But throughout the summer, Lord and Miller faced accusations of overworked employees and terrible working conditions, to the point where the movie would never have been finished on schedule. Many unnamed sources said they wanted to travel, or hoped they could, so their work wouldn’t be in vain. The performance of Beyond the Spider-Verse is expected to be comparable to that of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. The second installment of the franchise, which debuted in the summer of 2023 and earned over $690 million in revenue, was recognised with an award for being ranked among the top 10 films of the year by the American Film Institute.
