The project’s new directors have released an interesting update on Daredevil: Born Again’s development after production was paused to be retooled. It was disclosed in October that a significant creative reorganisation had occurred on Daredevil: Born Again due to studio executives’ dissatisfaction with the show’s present trajectory. By that time, less than half of the series had been shot, and it was decided to start over with a whole new creative team. This involved replacing showrunner Dario Scardapane, who worked on The Punisher, with filmmakers Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead (Moon Knight, Loki). Benson and Moorhead revealed in an interview the precise stage of the project’s creation at which the revised version is now. The filmmakers claim that they are still in “day zero” of Daredevil: Born Again, indicating that given how early the series is in its new production methodology, it would take some time to premiere. But, they’ve been studying the new series extensively in order to draw inspiration, so when Born Again production picks back up, they’ll be ready to go. Even better, it’s revealed that Born Again was heavily influenced by the original Netflix series. However, they’re not stopping there; in order to fully define the character and win over the fans, they’re also examining other iconic Daredevil episodes.

“For you, we have the perfect response. You see this area we’re in at the moment? We just found out about our office around 45 minutes ago. This is our workspace. And that’s where Daredevil and I are right now,” Benson stated. Then Moorhead said, “Today is day zero. Right now, all of the available Daredevil content—not just the Netflix series—is what we’re watching. We are only thickening our information stew.” While there may be a lengthy wait for Daredevil: Born Again, two of its main actors will be available for viewing in the meanwhile. With a major role in the Hawkeye spinoff series Echo, Vincent D’Onofrio reprised his role as Wilson Fisk, a.k.a. Kingpin, in the trailer. Charlie Cox’s Daredevil was also glimpsed in the trailer, although for a brief moment. On January 10, 2024, the TV-MA series is scheduled to debut on Hulu and Disney+.
