The new Marvel Cinematic Universe series will not only have the Netflix adaptation of Daredevil: Born Again as canon, but it also seems like events from The Punisher will serve as pointers for the highly anticipated series. Important events from The Punisher’s Seasons 1 and 2 will be referenced in Born Again, according to industry insider Alex Perez of The Cosmic Circus. This will strengthen the MCU show’s continuity with related Netflix shows. Perez claims that The Punisher’s adventures would be “handled similarly” to how the history of Wilson Fisk/Kingpin was revealed in the newly published Echo series. In Born Again, MCU devotees can also “expect all of Frank Castle’s emotional baggage” to be discussed.

The Punisher, a Netflix spinoff of Daredevil, starred Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle and aired for two seasons and twenty-six episodes in 2017 and 2019. The show followed the named ex-Marine on his mission to unearth a more extensive plot than the unfortunate incidents that befell his family. Several significant flashpoints occurred in the series, including as Frank’s doubts about his role as The Punisher following his involvement in the enigmatic events surrounding Amy Bendix’s attempted murder. Additionally, there was Frank’s major confrontation with Jigsaw (Ben Barnes), his previous closest buddy. Disney later started streaming The Punisher in March of last year after purchasing the streaming rights, after the series’ removal from Netflix in 2022.Bernthal’s casting as Born Again’s cast member was announced in the same month, which delighted MCU fans since the character is a favourite among Marvel devotees. Earlier this month, Bernthal said in an interview with Collider that fans identify strongly with his character because “everyone has a little bit of Frank Castle in them.” Bernthal went on, “I really care about that guy, and he resides very powerfully inside of me. I also understand how crucial it is that, should we want to proceed, we do it correctly and with true holy respect to the original work and to Frank’s essence.”

Fans have the opportunity to catch up on Netflix series before Born Again premieres by watching both The Punisher and Daredevil on Disney+. Brad Winderbaum, an executive producer at Marvel, affirmed that he thinks Born Again canonises the Daredevil series. In light of rumours that other Daredevil cast members would return with Charlie Cox’s titular antihero in Born Again, the relationships on Netflix seem to be becoming stronger. According to reports, Born Again’s first season will be far shorter than planned after the show’s creative change last autumn. After production was halted owing to the SAG-AFTRA strike, actor Vincent D’Onofrio recently disclosed that filming will soon resume.
