Marvel fans have been eagerly anticipating the release of Deadpool 3, and now there’s even more reason to get excited. Zeb Wells, a well-known Marvel Comics writer, has been added to the team of screenwriters for the highly anticipated film.
According to Deadline, Wells will be co-writing the script alongside Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese, who previously wrote the first two Deadpool movies for 20th Century Fox. It’s worth noting that Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Logelin had previously written a draft for the film, but it seems that Wernick and Reese were brought back to work on the project.
For those unfamiliar with Wells’ work, he’s written for several popular Marvel titles, including Amazing Spider-Man and New Mutants. He’s also worked on the upcoming Marvel Studios film The Marvels, which is set to release in theaters in November 2023 as a sequel to Captain Marvel. In addition, Wells wrote Episode 7 of the Disney+ original series She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, which is set to debut later this year.
Deadpool 3 is scheduled to hit theaters on November 8, 2024, and will mark Deadpool’s first appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Fans can expect Ryan Reynolds to reprise his role as the Merc with a Mouth, presumably through some multiversal shenanigans. The film will be directed by Shawn Levy, who previously worked with Reynolds on Free Guy and The Adam Project. Levy will also serve as a producer alongside Reynolds and Marvel Studios head honcho Kevin Feige.
With Wells joining the writing team for Deadpool 3, fans can expect even more humor and action-packed excitement from the highly anticipated film. The addition of Wells, who has a proven track record in the comic book world, only adds to the excitement surrounding the upcoming movie. Fans of the Deadpool franchise will surely be counting down the days until the film’s release in 2024.
