Zoe Saldaña may have concluded her role as Gamora in the MCU, but she does not want the Guardians of the Galaxy to end. Zoe Saldaña’s role as Gamora in the Marvel Cinematic Universe may end with the release of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 in 2023. In a new interview, Saldaña was asked if she was “done” with performing the part, and she intimated that she might be. Saldaña advocates for Gamora and the Guardians to have a larger role in the MCU, even if it means recasting them. She believes it would be a “huge loss” if the characters did not return. “I mean, so far, I think that she is [gone for good] for me, but I don’t think Gamora has gone for good,” she said. “I believe it would be a major loss for Marvel if they did not find a way to resurrect the Guardians of the Galaxy. It’s just such a popular collection of misfits, you know? And then, at the helm, they had a voice similar to James Gunn’s writing, which is both wonderful and unique to this genre. And it’s perfect for this genre. So I’d be the first one in the front row to rejoice when the Guardians of the Galaxy return.”

Given the existence of the multiverse in the MCU, it wouldn’t be surprising to see fresh actors cast as any or all of the Guardians of the Galaxy characters. It’s worth mentioning that certain members of the cast, notably Dave Bautista, have previously stated that they would not be returning to the MCU in those roles, citing his age. Others, such Star-Lord star Chris Pratt, seem more willing to return. “It would be weird to continue the Star Lord saga without James Gunn. He did such an excellent job in the first three movie. “We really found Peter Quill’s voice, both with and without him,” Pratt told Total Film. So, in order to continue telling the tale, it is critical to recognize what he has done in the previous three films, as well as what fans have grown to love about the character, rather than merely doing it because people may turn up to pay for it.
