Before its premiere, The Marvels’ box office estimates were a little off. Now that the official figures are in, things are not looking good for the MCU film. At one time, the picture forecasts were as high as $80 million before The Marvels had their theatrical debut. considerably with its large budget, this would be considered a letdown, but rumours have it that the figures were considerably lower than anticipated. After earning $21.5 million on its first day of release, the movie is expected to gross between $47 million and $52 million over the course of the weekend. The Marvels’ opening day earnings of $21.46 million just beat 2008’s The Incredible Hulk, which also almost established a new record low for the MCU. If The Marvels doesn’t earn more than $55.4 million, which is the opening weekend total for The Incredible Hulk, it might still wind up being the worst opening weekend ever. Four years are a long time, full with possibilities. In 2019, the first Captain Marvel film was released, and it opened with a significantly better $153.4 million in North America. That movie went on to become a huge hit, grossing over $1.13 billion at the box office worldwide. With its theatrical run in 2023, its official sequel appears to be breaking the previous record for the MCU’s worst performance. One may hypothesise as to why the sequel didn’t spark as much excitement as the first one, but “superhero fatigue” is frequently cited as the cause of the declining box office receipts of comic book films in recent years.

Either way, the majority of people who have been watching The Marvels in theatres appear to be enjoying it generally. On bad Tomatoes, the movie started off with a bad score of 62%, but further reviews have raised it to a new standing of 62%. Additionally, it boasts an 85% audience score on the review aggregator website, which is substantially higher. CinemaScore also awarded the movie a B-. The majority of MCU fans seem to love the movie on its own, but for some reason, it didn’t draw big crowds to theatres. The Marvels, directed by Nia DaCosta, stars Brie Larson in a reunion as Captain Marvel. Iman Vellani and Teyonah Parris play Monica Rambeau and Ms. Marvel, respectively. Currently, the film is showing in theatres.
