VisionQuest cast: White Vision, Ultron, and a very familiar boy
Paul Bettany returns as White Vision, the clear lead. The wild card is James Spader, back as Ultron, the villain Bettany himself helped defeat a decade ago. That reunion alone is worth the price of admission.
The deep-cut casting is Ruaridh Mollica as a character named Thomas Shepard, widely believed to be Tommy Maximoff, one of Wanda’s reality-warping twins. If that lands, VisionQuest is not just a Vision story, it is a stealth Young Avengers builder. James D’Arcy is also back as JARVIS, tying a neat bow on years of MCU AI lore.
The supporting bench doubles down on that AI theme in a big way. Reports peg the cast as a who’s who of Marvel’s artificial intelligences, from FRIDAY and EDITH to DUM-E and U, which suggests the show is quietly a story about what a synthetic being becomes when it is free to choose. Spader’s Ultron looming over all of it turns that question sinister. This is the version of Vision, the ghost of Tony Stark’s tech, and the specter of Ultron all colliding in one series, and that collision is exactly why it feels like setup rather than a footnote.
How VisionQuest connects to Avengers Doomsday
Here is the part that should make Doomsday fans sit up. VisionQuest closes out the WandaVision and Agatha All Along trilogy, and it airs just two months before Doomsday. Marvel does not schedule its final table-setting show that close to an Avengers movie by accident.

If you only watch the blockbusters, you can skip a lot of Disney+ TV without missing much. VisionQuest looks like an exception. It resolves a decade of Vision, Wanda, and Ultron threads, potentially introduces a Young Avenger, and does it right before the multiverse saga’s climax.
